A house or apartment layout starts with the residents’ needs: household size, daily movement, workspaces, storage and rest. These requirements are considered against the available area, structure, site or existing premises.
From layout to drawings
After a layout is selected, structural design, services, lighting and finishes are coordinated. Equipment positions, maintenance access and material compatibility should be checked before work begins.
What to provide
Prepare a plan or measurements, photographs, a description of your needs and visual references. Drawings, visualisations, specifications and the form of design support are agreed in the brief; the word “design” does not automatically include every deliverable.
What a residential interior project includes
An interior project starts with measurements and room layouts. Once the concept is agreed, it develops floor and ceiling plans, lighting, sockets and switches, sanitary fittings and wall elevations. Finish schedules are prepared, with bespoke item drawings where needed.
Visualisations help agree the appearance of the rooms, while drawings and schedules communicate the design to the trades. Furniture, equipment and decorative elements are coordinated with the layout and services. The brief determines the final documentation package.
